Privacy Policy

Flutely is a macOS dictation app designed to keep voice typing private by default. Flutely does not require an account.

Transcription

Flutely supports three transcription modes.

Flutely Cloud. Flutely Cloud is the default for new users. When you use Flutely Cloud, your audio is sent through our managed transcription service and forwarded to a provider to produce the transcript. Audio is processed transiently for transcription. Flutely does not store raw audio or transcripts on its servers.

Local transcription. If you choose local transcription, your audio is processed on your Mac and is not sent to Flutely Cloud.

Your own cloud provider. If you choose to use your own cloud transcription provider (OpenAI, Groq, or Gemini), your audio and related data may be processed by that provider under its own terms and privacy policy.

Quotas and Abuse Prevention

Flutely Cloud uses an install-specific identifier to enforce usage limits and prevent abuse. This identifier is not linked to your name, email address, account, audio, or transcribed text.

Standard infrastructure logs may include request metadata such as app version, request duration, response status, and error codes. These logs are used to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.

Anonymous App Analytics

Flutely sends anonymous usage events to help us understand how the app is used and improve the product. These events may include:

• Install events, such as app version and default transcription provider
• Transcription metadata, such as provider used, model, and dictation mode

Analytics events never include audio recordings, transcribed text, API keys, or hardware device identifiers.

Analytics are processed by our self-hosted Plausible Analytics instance. Plausible is configured to be cookieless and not to track users across third-party websites. Source IP address and User-Agent may be processed to produce aggregate visitor counts and usage statistics.

Analytics are disabled when Privacy Mode is enabled in Settings. Privacy Mode does not change your selected transcription mode; you can choose local transcription separately in Settings.

What We Do Not Collect

Flutely does not collect or store:

• Raw audio recordings on Flutely servers
• Transcribed text on Flutely servers
• Your API keys in analytics or logs
• Advertising identifiers
• Account information, unless you voluntarily contact us by email

Support and Feedback

If you send feedback or contact us by email, your message, email address, and any information you choose to include will be processed by your email provider and by us. We use this information only to respond to you, provide support, and improve Flutely.

Retention

Flutely does not store raw audio or transcripts on its servers. Infrastructure logs are retained for up to 90 days. Install-specific quota identifiers are retained for as long as needed to enforce limits and prevent abuse. Support emails are retained for as long as needed to respond to you and maintain a support history, unless you ask us to delete them.

Third-Party Providers

Flutely may use service providers to operate the app, provide transcription, process analytics, host infrastructure, and handle support email. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to us or to you.

When you use your own cloud transcription provider, that provider processes your data according to its own terms and privacy policy.

International Processing

Depending on your location and the providers used, your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Your Choices and Rights

You can choose local transcription in Settings if you do not want your audio sent to Flutely Cloud.

You can enable Privacy Mode in Settings to disable anonymous app analytics.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data. You can contact us at hello@flutely.app to exercise these rights.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
